Teaching Philosophy
I am choosing to pursue a teaching career to share my knowledge and experience with others. The best gift of teaching is seeing the students develop and transform into creative problem solvers. My goal is to prepare them for the professional world while they master creative thinking in a friendly, trustworthy, and respectful environment.
Creating a collaborative workspace full of open discussions and honest critiques gives students experiential learning while preparing them to become future professional creative team members. Mind maps, divergent and convergent thinking allow them to fulfill their potential through the creative process. At the same time, independent research is a significant addition to the students’ design knowledge.
Inspiration drives creativity and creative thinking. I believe exposing students to famous designers’ work ignites their creative minds. Meeting successful design creatives and listening to them speak in the classroom or during field trips to professional design clubs or companies will educate and inspire students about their future profession. Short videos and documentaries, design manifestos, books, and periodicals will develop students’ visual taste while inspiring them to create.
A structured classroom environment allows young professionals to develop their skills to their fullest potential. It lets students receive honest and justified feedback on every project. I will be ready to listen to and help each student according to their learning styles. Adjusting teaching methods and working with students' strengths and weaknesses gives them an equal chance to gain priceless knowledge and experience.
Diversity Statement
As a professor, it is imperative to provide everyone with equal rights and opportunities to proceed with their educational path. A diverse environment creates a safe and open space for students of different cultures, social statuses, genders, orientations, and learning abilities. It allows the students to freely express their different worldviews, opinions, and creative ideas in the classroom. Mutual respect and empathy will bring unity to the educational atmosphere. We will hear and value everyone’s creative thinking process on the path to innovative, design-centric solutions. Working collaboratively on assignments will provide a sense of inclusion, equality, empathy, and camaraderie. Students will confidently push their creative ideas to their fullest potential by learning from one another.
Everyone is unique based on cultural, religious, family-established values, and personal experiences. Diversity is not just a trait we all share. It is a strength that unites us. As a result, adopting this idea transforms the classroom into a place where students can socialize, collaborate, explore the freedom of creativity, and achieve as innovative thinkers. So, let us praise and celebrate Malcolm Forbes’s quote, “Diversity: the art of thinking independently together.”
